Admission to the Preserve is $10 per car or free for members of the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. Walk-in admission is $4 per person. Additional fees apply for mansion tours, programs, and events.
Dog walking is permitted on the grounds, but dogs must be kept on leashes at all times – we have a strict policy for the safety of all visitors.

The Preserve is open to the public year-round, seven days a week, closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. The hours change with the seasons:
Winter: Tuesday, November 1, 2016 through Friday, March 31, 2017
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Spring: Saturday, April 1, 2017 through Friday, May 26, 2017
Hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Summer: Saturday, May 27, 2017 (Memorial Day Weekend) through Monday, September 4, 2017 (Labor Day Weekend)
Hours: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Fall: Tuesday, September 5, 2017 – Wednesday, November 1, 2017
Hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Select a performing arts event in Hempstead House or a family nature program at the Phil Dejana Learning Center; schedule a tour of the historic mansions, gardens and grounds; or just stroll down one or two of the six trails through the woods and take in the majestic views that surround you.See the Activities and Cultural Events calendars and choose from a range of activities.
Reserve a picnic location in advance for your special outdoor gathering. Take along the Sands Point Trail Map available at the Gate House. Watch the turtles sunning themselves in the pond…

Restrooms are located in the Visitor Center. Handicap access in the historic buildings is limited.
Directions from NYC
Long Island Expressway to exit 36 (Searingtown Road/Port Washington). At the light, make a left and go under the Long Island Expressway heading north. Take Searingtown Road north, it will change into Port Washington Boulevard and then into Middle Neck Road. The Preserve will be on the right.
Directions from Points East

Parking is available on the Preserve. After entering at the gatehouse, the parking area is centrally located.
