Education Programming Fund

The White Party on August 18 drew a gathering of 140 to support the new Education Programming Fund and honor two remarkable educators: Lisa Cusano and Eric Powers.

See the Port Washington News article by Lorraine Mesagna for a great recap of this beautiful event in Hempstead House and Rose Garden.

The Conservancy sincerely thanks the many guests who contributed to the Education Programming Fund. View the event e-Journal here! With your support, we are closer to achieving our goals for education:

  • co-curricular programs for school visits (K-12)
  • original STEAM-based nature programs for children
  • custom programs for families with special needs
  • expanded after-school classes for pre-K through middle school
  • expanded adult nature classes, including overnight survival courses

Our special thanks to the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy’s Events Committee: Georgia DeYoung (Chair), Janet Effman, Amrit Sethi, Olivia Shandora, Martha Theodos, and Bonnie Zarabi. We are already starting to make plans for the White Party 2017!

The jazz duo, Acute Inflections, provided the music for the evening. And we thank Atelier Swarovski for its contribution to the fund and CERF, Creative Event Rentals & Furnishings for providing the elegant white decor in Hempstead House’s Winter Living Room.

Though this party is over, you can still be a part of this exciting initiative. Please make a contribution to the Education Programming Fund. For information, please contact Meghan Straesser, Development & Membership Officer, at and 516.571.7967.
