The Phil Dejana Learning Center & Outdoor Classroom

Classes now take place in children’s homes and backyards – and are extended through June 2020!

Weekly online classes for children ages 3 through 10 foster lifelong connections between art, wellness, and the natural environment. Our outstanding educators connect with children at home via Zoom conferences. Supply kits are included with registration and are available to take home. See the complete schedule of classes below.

ART
Explore painting, clay sculpting and collage, inspired by nature’s abundant natural resources – rocks, seeds, leaves, and sticks can be collected at home for a range of creative projects.

YOGA
Discover basic yoga postures, meditation, and breathing techniques in fun and imaginative ways. Practice will advance based on the children’s abilities and interests.

Art and Yoga classes are led by Lisa Cusano, an experienced educator and certified children’s yoga instructor, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts. “Teacher Lisa” has designed each class to expand opportunities for children as they grow and learn in a fun, natural and nurturing environment.

SCIENCE IN NATURE
These STEAM-based programs provide curricular enrichment, drawing on natural resources available in children’s own back yards. Classes are led by the Conservancy’s Education Manager, Tracy Strianese. She holds a BA in Education and has extensive experience teaching in schools and museums.
