Fairy Art Exhibit

The Fairy Art Exhibit is one of two ways for artists to participate in the Fairy Festival. Enter a piece of artwork for possible inclusion in the curated Fairy Art Exhibit. The Exhibit will be curated, but will not be judged. 2-dimensional art mediums such as oil, watercolor and photography, as well as 3-dimensional mediums such as sculpture and mixed media will be considered.

Applications are due by Wednesday, March 15.

Selected artworks will need to be dropped off at the Preserve on Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18.

All artists will be invited to the gallery reception on Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 pm.

Fairies, elves, and other fantastic woodland creatures gather in the hollows around us.  We invite you to show us through your art how they celebrate nature’s wonders and the magic of imagination.

CRITERIA AND MEDIUMS
The Sands Point Preserve invites all artists to submit work for consideration in the Fairy Festival Art Exhibition. We welcome submissions in any media and in any style.

  • All works must be framed (if appropriate) and not exceed 36” on either side; sculptures cannot exceed 36” in size and 20 lbs in weight. No exceptions.
  • Participants can only submit one original work of art.
  • Only submit work that is available for the duration of the exhibit.
  • Parental consent is required for artists under 18.
  • Artwork must be hand delivered. No storage either before drop-off dates or after pick-up dates.
  • Art must be family friendly as it will be displayed in a public space.
  • Prices (or Not-for-Sale) will be listed with artwork.
  • Artists must agree to the Artist Agreement and Waiver of Liability (below).

E-MAILING SUBMISSIONS
In an effort to conserve resources, the Sands Point Preserve accepts only digital submissions for consideration: image and entry form below. The Sands Point Preserve will retain submitted images of all selected artwork and reserves the right to use the images in publications and promotional materials.

NOTIFICATION
The Selection Committee will review all submissions and will notify the artist if their work is accepted to the exhibit. The Sands Point Preserve has the right to choose which eligible entries will be accepted to be exhibited. All decisions are final. The exhibit will not be judged and will be open to the public while it is on view.

HANGING & DISPLAY
If accepted, the artist must deliver their original piece of art, in ready-to-install condition. Artwork must be framed and wired for hanging. Sculptures must have a pedestal or stand, which can support the artwork.  Every piece’s delivery must comply with standards of professional presentation and craftsmanship. Works not complying with any these requirements will be omitted from the exhibition.

SALES
Artist may submit a price for their artwork or list as Not-for-Sale (NSF).  The artist is responsible for the sales transaction and filing of sales tax and agrees to a 20% commission to the Sands Point Preserve.

Artist Agreement & Waiver of Liability

Originality: In consideration of the opportunity to display my work to the public, and other good and valuable consideration, the adequacy and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I, the undersigned artist, certify that the art that I am submitting is my original art and that I am the author and creator of such art. I acknowledge that the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, Inc. (SPPC) reserves the right to accept or deny any submission with or without cause.

Promotion and Publicity: I grant SPPC permission to publish in all media my name, artwork, and location for use in promotion through print media, television, and the internet. I further allow SPPC to release such information to other persons and entities. My name will be attributed to my pieces that are shown by SPPC or other persons or entities.

Responsibility: I understand that SPPC does not assume responsibility for loss or damage to my artwork(s) or the loss or damage to frames or glass, no matter how sustained. Reasonable safety and electronic security precautions are in place to ensure added protection of my work. I also understand that SPPC strongly recommends that I carry my own personal property insurance.

Artwork remains on public display until May 27, 2024: I understand that if my artwork is accepted for the show that the work may not be removed from the exhibition until May 28, 2024. It is my responsibility to notify SPPC in writing or by email of a third-party pick-up of artwork at the conclusion of the exhibition. Artwork accepted by the Selection Committee, if sold prior to the exhibit, must be placed in the show. Replacement pieces are not accepted.

Sales of Artwork: I am responsible for all sales transactions and the collection and filing of applicable sales tax. I agree to give the SPPC a 20% commission of all sales. I acknowledge that I have read and understand all terms contained in the description for this Call for Artists and the Artist Agreement and agree to be bound by the terms and stated expectations.

Waiver of Liability: Once I submit this form electronically or by paper copy, I (the artist), my heirs, successors, and assigns, shall indemnify and hold The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, Inc., Nassau County, and the Incorporated Village of Sands Point and appointed officers, volunteers, employees harmless from any and all claims, costs and liabilities for any artwork damage, personal injury, death, or other property damage which is the result of handling and displaying the artwork at the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. Our partners’ employees or contractors are likewise held harmless from any and all claims from the artist, heirs, successors or assigns from any artwork damage, personal injury, death, or other property damage, and related costs and liabilities, which is the result of handling and displaying the artwork.
