11 – 11:30am: Watch Jean-Marie in action as she maintains the hives in our apiary. Guests who plan to attend this portion should wear long pants and sleeves, and should not eat bananas prior to attending.**
11:45am – 12:45 pm: Take a guided nature walk with Hildur Palsdottir, to see firsthand the incredible biodiversity that bees support.
Thank you to our event sponsors Jean-Marie Posner, Melissa Zakri and Ed Zareh. This event is FREE for all to attend thanks to their generous support. Please note that our standard $15 parking fee applies to non-members.
**Bananas give off a scent similar to honeybee alarm pheromone, which can trigger defensive behavior in bees. Eating or smelling like bananas near a hive may cause bees to become more aggressive. Beekeepers avoid bananas to help keep the bees calm.
