Preserving Open Space

Pond in Summer

Did you know that an estimated 6,000 acres of open space across the United States are converted to other uses each day? (source: US Department of Agriculture).

We at the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy are committed to preserving and protecting our 216 acres of forest, pond life and coastal shorelines which are home to 13 species of mammals, 97 species of birds and 8 species of pond life.

This land plays an essential role in clean air and water, stormwater regulation, scenic areas, outdoor recreation opportunities and vital ecological functions.

In addition, our Preserve represents a chunk of stored carbon that if developed, would enter the atmosphere, and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.

For all these reasons the Board of Directors of the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy is committed to conserving and protecting our over two hundred acres of natural resources for generations to come.
