Observe Earth Day at the Sands Point Preserve – all participants receive free admission to the park! This program was reschedule from April 22. Meet at Castle Gould’s Clock Tower on Friday, April 26 at noon or join us any time between noon to 2 pm at the beach.
Please join the Earth Day Network’s priority mission for 2019, to “Protect our Species” from litter and other environmental hazards. We focus on collecting plastic litter, which poisons and injures marine life. Together, we will make a difference.
According to Earth Day Network, “The unprecedented global destruction and rapid reduction of plant and wildlife populations are directly linked to causes driven by human activity: climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution and pesticides to name a few. The impacts are far reaching.”
The Conservancy works year-round to ensure that the 216 acres that comprise the beautiful Sands Point Preserve are well-maintained, clean, and safe for our local plants and wildlife – and, of course, all of our visitors! Thank YOU for lending your time and energy to support this important cause.
This program is led by Tree Sister Hildur Palsdottir, an environmental educator and mindfulness instructor. The program starts with a brief overview of strategies to reduce, reuse, recycle; and collected litter will be sorted for recycling after the cleanup.
