Sands Point Preserve Clean Up

Help keep the planet healthy at the Sands Point Preserve Clean Up. Besides being unsightly, litter contributes to the injury and death of wildlife. Bugs with Wings

Discover metamorphosis, molting, and mating of the butterflies, dragonflies, honeybees and more that call the Preserve home. Our indoor and outdoor stations will include a short presentation, special stories, art projects, and visits to the habitats that attract these bugs with wings. Introduction to Orienteering

Orienteering is an international sport of navigating diverse, and often unfamiliar, terrain by map and compass. Two levels of instruction are offered. If you have never used a compass or need basic refresher instruction, attend our introductory program and practice your skills on a simple orienteering field course on the Preserve’s open lawn. Spring Celebration 2016

The long winter is over! As the Preserve awakens to the spring season, bring the family for an afternoon of seasonally-themed activities: take-home seed planting, live bird program, square dancing led by Jim Emory, family photo opportunities, and our much-awaited spring crafts rooms. The Amazing Rainforest

Join storyteller, naturalist, and children’s author Eric Young, as he reads his book, The Rainbow Almond Tree. Discover the perils and joys of the rainforest – a wondrous natural place – and meet some live animals that dwell there, including a tree frog, a walking stick and a python. Valentine’s Night Cabaret
