Honeybees play a vital role in the environment, and the Preserve’s hives have been busily pollinating plant life across the grounds all summer. Join us for a hands-on workshop in our apiary on Saturday, August 27 at 11 am – 1 pm, led by Beekeeper Jean-Marie Posner. Discover honeybee biology and the art of maintaining hives and harvesting honey. This program is designed for all levels of experience, from novices to experts. Age 5 and up.

Honeybees will not stingĀ unless they are provoked, but we do encourage participants to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants and to tie long hair back from the face. Also, do not eat bananas on Saturday as they remind honeybees of a “fight hormone” which can disturb the hives.
