The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy presents a series of new online programs to celebrate Earth Day 2020. Our guides and educators bring the beauty of the Preserve to you via live Zoom conferences and recorded experiences across the Preserve. Check back through the day to find new links to the programs below.

Guided Nature Walk – All Day
Explore the Preserve’s multiple environments with Max Goldman – from the freshwater pond and beach along the Long Island Sound to the forest and native pollinator garden.

Woodland Walk – All Day
Travel the Sands Point Preserve’s forest trails and hear the sounds of native wildlife in this 15 minute video. Filmed by Sean McNally.

11 AM – Earth Day Meditation
Hildur Palsdottir leads a live session from the Palm Court in Hempstead House. Register for the free Zoom meeting here!

2 PM – Join the Citizen Science global movement! Learn to utilize aps that identify and collect useful research data for all living species in your environment, including INaturalist, Merlin Bird ID, among others.

The Port Washington Art Guild
presents an art class for children. Start gathering recycleable objects in your home now to create your landscape!

8:30 PM – Lights Out!
Residents Forward
invites the community to turn off your lights from 8:30 – 8:45 pm as an act of solidarity to save energy for the good of the earth.
