SAVE THE DATE!

The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy will host a Kentucky Derby Gala on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 6 pm in Hempstead House on the Guggenheim Estate.

We’ll celebrate the Guggenheim family’s connection to this legendary race – Harry Guggenheim, a founder of the New York Racing Association, raised and raced thoroughbreds, and his famed horse, Dark Star, won the Kentucky Derby in 1953. At 25-to-1 odds, Dark Star led the entire ‘run for the roses’ and beat favored Native Dancer by a head.  Watch the news video of the race here.

The gala will raise funds to support the renovation of multiple spaces inside Castle Gould, the original stable and carriage house on the estate.

We invite you to join the host and gala committees now – for information, contact info@sandspointpreserve.org or call 516.439.4891. Thank you!
