Early Childhood Mornings

Infant Yoga Class - moms with babies

The Conservancy offers two new Early Childhood programs for our littlest Preservers – from infants through 30 months – to introduce the healthful concepts of yoga and the wonders of the natural environment here at the Sands Point Preserve. Parents/Caregivers can enjoy this special time together with their children.

2020 WINTER/SPRING SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

WEDNESDAY – YOGA
January 22 – May 20 (no class 2/19, 3/11, 4/8, 4/15)
9:00 – 9:45 am: Infant to 9 months with parent/caregiver

Adults are carefully guided through age-appropriate yoga sessions by instructor Nicole Asselta, a registered yoga teacher, who holds a Masters of Social Work from Hunter University and a certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from New York University. She teaches extensively at schools and centers in the region.

WEDNESDAY – MOVEMENT & NATURE

Spring: (8 weeks): March 18 – May 20 (no class 4/8, 4/15)
10:00 – 11:15 am: 18 – 30 months with parent/caregiver

Children and their parents/caregivers will discover the natural world around them through guided nature walks, outdoor exploration, and age-appropriate movement exercise.  Each week will feature a different topic as we visit various locations across the Preserve, culminating in an indoor yoga session. Classes are taught by Nicole Asselta and the Conservancy’s Education Manager, Tracy Strianese, who holds a BA in Education and has extensive experience teaching in schools and museums.
